Human Factors Engineer
SpectraforceJob Title: Human Factors Engineer Location: Acton, MA or San Diego, CA (Local candidates required) Hybrid Duration: 12 Months Contract Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and collaborative Human Factors Engineer to join a dynamic team focused on designing safe, effective, and user-friendly medical devices for diabetes care. This role will contribute to the development and evaluation of next-generation products, ensuring world-class usability and patient safety. Key Responsibilities Author, review, and maintain Human Factors engineering documentation, including: Formative and validation study protocols & reports Usability plans and use specifications User interface specifications Use-related risk analyses Plan, conduct, and report Human Factors formative and validation studies Analyze study data using qualitative methods and root cause analysis Provide actionable design recommendations based on usability findings Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, and quality teams Ensure use-related risks are identified, evaluated, and mitigated Contribute human-centered design insights to product development Support continuous improvement of Human Factors processes and documentation Required Qualifications Bachelor s degree in Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Biomedical Engineering, or related field 1–3 years of relevant Human Factors experience Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams Preferred Qualifications Master s degree in a related field Experience in the medical device industry Knowledge of FDA Human Factors guidance and standards (HE75, IEC 62366) Experience with user-centered design methodologies Hands-on experience conducting usability (formative & validation) studies Understanding of human performance principles (cognitive, perceptual, motor, etc.) Additional Information Must be local to Acton, MA or San Diego, CA Up to 25% travel may be required to support usability studies
